Recent High-Grade Gold Discoveries
August 3, 2009
Ontario's junior gold exploration companies are once again our focus in this week's update; however, a major gold find in Russia puts the spotlight on a little-known explorer.
It's been over a month since we've been updated on Rubicon's (RBY) expanded drilling program, but the good news has finally arrived. Last week, the company announced more high grade intercepts between 10 and 40 grams of gold per ton at its 100%-owned Phoenix Gold Project at Red Lake, Ontario. Among other updates include ongoing construction on its 20,000 meter shaft extension.
Premier Gold (PIRGF) and Roxmark Mines (RMKMF) recently hit mineralization zones of up to 17.16 grams of gold per ton at their joint venture Hardrock mine. Located near Thunder Bay, Ontario, the project is 70%-owned by Premier.
Few people have heard of Fortress Gold (FTMNF) and even fewer people trade it. But the Vancouver-based explorer is uncovering significant high grade gold zones in Russia. The company recently announced outstanding results between 2.62 g/t to 11.8 grams of gold per ton. The results came as part of its 2009 diamond drilling program at its Amy Prospect of its Svetloye Project.
General Metals (GNMT) received 275 assays from the orignial Noranda Minerals drilling program in the 1980's indicating average grades of 6.42 grams of gold per ton. The gold zones are located at its 100%-owned Independence Gold Skarn project in northern Nevada.
